Frames (2019)

Prints made on a Vandercook Letterpress Press in a casted plastic frame

The framed linoleum prints tell a story of intimacy and show a unresolved feeling. It talks about my memory of the space and how I remember it.

The printed quality represents more of a diary-like entry quality that tells a story. The frame, once removed, addresses how I feel about my experience of memory. The frames have more symbols to tell a story rather than to convey a feeling during a time. The secrecy of the symbols hopefully allude to the strain the viewers experience of public and private.

The frame, in the first few prints, suggests that the image is worth revering and looking into. Through the graphic nature of linoleum and the history of reproduction of letterpress hint that the image is meant to be understood, though the image itself is meant to be secret. I see the images as functioning like something written like a journal with symbols only I understand.
